My name is Joan Tiefel and I specialize in working with individuals and families who find themselves struggling with a variety of life issues. I have had the opportunity and pleasure to watch people find ways to change unwanted behaviors, their outlook on life, and ultimately discover a sense of freedom and enthusiasm when looking toward the future.
CLINICAL APPROACH:
The ultimate goal for my clients is to discover freedom and healing in their lives.
I believe we have the ability to change the way we think, act and respond to both people and situations, therefore making our lives more meaningful and enjoyable. I work with clients to help them gain perspective, manage their expectations and provide them with practical tools which allow them to gain confidence and strength as well as the ability to stand up for themselves. They learn positive and productive ways to communicate with others and to express themselves in a manner which evokes a positive response from the people they are with. They find themselves in a safe, stress-free environment where they can freely express themselves without fear of judgement or criticism. We work together to reach their personal goals so that they can ultimately overcome their fears, change their unwanted behaviors and face the world with renewed confidence and hope.
For those who are open to the power of God in helping them to change and discover peace, I will help them learn to look to God for strength and wisdom. They will learn how to strengthen their relationship with the Lord and rely on the Holy Spirit to help them see themselves and others through the eyes of the Lord. Those concepts are easily incorporated into counseling sessions.

REVIEWS
-From the first day I met her, her gentle, non-threatening demeanor assured me that I had come to the right place, and that I no longer had to fight the battle of hurting insecurity alone.
- Not only did Joan ground me, encourage and confront me about things I needed to work on in my own life but she made me feel safe, valued and loved, and that is a gift that will never leave me.
- Joan listens, does not judge, and gives the advice and guidance she believes is best for you, others involved, and the situation at hand. All the while she keeps the Lord and Biblical principles at the forefront of her advice.
