----It is not very often you stumble upon true, unrelenting, nonjudgmental love and guidance, but that is what I found in Joan. From the first day I met her, her sweet, gentle, non-threatening demeanor assured me that I had come to the right place, and that I no longer had to fight the battle of hurting and insecurity alone. She surrounded me and uplifted me and counseled me in God’s Truth and allowed me to shed the lies that I had believed for so long about myself. She confronted me with questions that I had tried to avoid for years, but ones that I knew were integral to ultimate healing and finding the contentment in my life that I had longed for for so long. Not only did she ground me, and encourage me and confront me about things that I need to work on in my own life, but she made me feel safe and valued and loved, and that is a gift that will never leave me, and for which I could never repay her for!
-----If I had to sum up Joan Tiefel in one word it would be "genuine." When you talk with Joan, you can't help but see how deeply she cares about what you have to say. She invests her whole heart into listening, then prayerfully considers her words before she speaks. She is one of the most selfless people I know and has a God-given gift for understanding relationships and counseling others through whatever struggles they may be experiencing. She is a tremendous blessing to me, and to all who know her."
----- Some of the greatest encouragement and genuine helpful counsel I have received has come from Joan Tiefel. I would recommend her as a counselor to anyone I know, for the following reasons:
Joan listens with her whole mind, heart, and spirit. She is humble about her own gifts and talents (although they are many), and relies on godly wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit to equip her with words of life, action steps, exhortations or gentle reality checks for her clients.
I have benefitted from Joan's counsel, recently, as I dealt with some heart-breaking circumstances which had me kind of paralyzed. Joan listened. She had no agenda, except to hear my heart. After active listening, Joan imparted some very wise insights to me, which I had missed, having been too close to the situation. Because of her gentle way of speaking, and her warmth, which puts people at ease, I was able to receive the truths she shared with me.
Knowing the truth will set you free, and as Joan has given me truth, I have been set free. The main reason I would recommend Joan Tiefel as a counselor, is that every time I am with her, I am drawn closer to the Lord, which then fortifies my faith, and gives me confidence to persevere. She is a very good counselor, who has made a difference in my life.
-----Joan Tiefel is one of the most caring people I have ever met. I know she cares about me and I'm not just another person she counsels. When I go to her with an issue (big or small) she listens, does not judge, and gives the advice and guidance she believes is best for me, the others involved, and the situation at hand. While doing this, she keeps the Lord and Biblical prinicples in the forefront of her advice. She is very empathetic and not pushy. She understands sometimes it is hard to open up to someone else and that people can feel very vulnerable but she lets you talk at your own pace. Through her Christian background, Godly advice, and the way she lives her life as a Christian example and role model, she has brought me closer to the Lord in my own walk and relationship. She has helped and guided me in more ways than I can count and I would recommend her to absolutely anyone no matter what issue they are going through.
-----My husband told me he'd been unfaithful, and my marriage was in crisis mode. He said he was willing to work on things, as was I, but it seemed the road blocks kept popping up. A few months had gone by and I still wasn't sure whether or not I should stay with him. Everything was at an excruciating standstill. Adding to the complications was the fact that I was getting conflicting advice from two trusted individuals. It was at this juncture that I decided to call Joan. She helped me to make some sense of things at a particularly confusing time, and gave me much needed reassurance that my thoughts and feelings were normal. She especially stressed the importance of prayer. In addition, she suggested ways that I could communicate my needs to my husband so he wouldn't automatically go on the defensive. Because of her clear, direct advice, I was more decisive about the direction I wanted to go, and I didn't feel quite so helpless anymore. Months later, I am fully recommitted to my husband, and we continue, with the Lord's help, to make progress together.
